| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of nitrogen (N) and phosphorous (P) as supplemental fertilizers in turfgrass, stating that "improper management...of turf fertilizers can contribute to pollution of both surface waters and ground waters." Advises one to "never directly deposit or inadvertently apply fertilizer materials into lakes"; "fill fertilizer spreaders on a hard surface where spills can be cleanerd up easily"; "close the gate on the fertilizer spreader when crossing hard surface areas"; "avoid getting fertilizer into natrual drainage areas or pathways on a property", and "for shoreline areas, a buffer zone of unmanaged grasses, or possibly natural vegetation, could be left around the shoreline." |
