| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses potential techniques for overseeding, stating that "each year in early fall most golf course superintendents with bermudagrass green overseed with one or more cool season turfgrass(es)...because bermudagrass turns brown with frost and stops growth." Lists potential considerations when developing an overseeding program, including "(1) which cool season species to use"; "(2) which variety of the selected species to purchase"; "(3) what seeding rate should be used"; "(4) selecting the ideal date for overseeding"; "(5) how to control annual bluegrass without jeopardizing the stand of overseeded grass(es)"; and "(6) the methodology to use in the actual overseeding process." Advises superintendents to "carefully manipulate irrigation, height of mowing, nitrogen fertilization, vertical mowing and, if used, selective herbicides...to accomplish a smoother transition in the spring." |
