| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of bulkheads on golf courses, explaining that "the important point to remember is that a bulkhead is constructed to keep land contained inside the walls, not to keep the water outside the walls." Suggests that deciding what to repair and what to replace with bulkheads "should be done by visually inspecting the bulkhead with a qualified civil engineer." Explains that the next step is aquiring permits, which "generally take up to four months to receive and cost from $300 to $600 each." Suggests that "while repairing a bulkhead is only a temporary solution, it can extend the life of the wall several years" and that "regular maintenance can also extend the life of a bulkhead wall." Concludes that "following good maintenance practices and making immediate repairs when necessary should keep expensive new installations to a minimum." |
