Abstract/Contents:Discusses the development of buffalograsses for use as golf course turf, explaining that "it is a warm season, stoloniferous, low-growing species which requires little water, fertilizer or mowing." Discusses the goals of a project in Nebraska, explaining that "the first major goal is the variety development of new turf-type buffalograsses." States that "the second major goal is the development of techniques for propagating buffalograsses both by seed and vegetatively" and that "the third goal of the project is the development of the cultural recommendations necessary to successfully grow buffalograss." Concludes that "the progress made in this project in less than five years suggests that new turf-type buffalograss can be developed which will use significantly less water and fertilizer than conventional turf species."
