Abstract/Contents: | Good turf cover, uniformity, and proper management provided the most attractive and weed-free lawn. Suggested herbicides for broadleaf weed control consisted of 2,4-D, 2,4-DP, Mecoprop and Bromoxynil. April 10-15 was the best time for applying 2,4-D for dandelion control in New Jersey. In Tennessee, mid-April is best for control of chickweed, knotweed and clover. Management practices for crabgrass control were a good turf cover and a higher height of cut. Eighty percent crabgrass control averages were obtained with preemergence herbicides. Management practices produced more satisfactory results than herbicides with Poa annua. |
