Abstract/Contents: | Greenness was one of the better growth indicators. For green fertilization and putting quality, fertilizer applications were made as to favor the Agrostis spp. regime over Poa annua. Smaller more frequent fertilizer applications to favor more even growth were suggested. Dryness and excessive irrigation practices should be avoided. Cultivation and topdressing were best for thatch control. Green speeds were checked bi-weekly to ensure the superintendent speeds were at the desired rate. With a sharp, well adjusted mower, a 3/16 inch height of cut for greens was suggested. Tipping, a mild vertical mowing treatment, was used to improve putting quality. |
