| Abstract/Contents: | Lists potential disadvantages of trees on the golf course. States that "trees can cause maintenance problems because their roots sometimes get into the greens, bunkers and drainage systems"; "trees accentuate the element of luck in golf"; "safety of golfers and neighbours [neighbors] can...be affected by trees". Also lists potential advantages, including that "trees can separate golf holes providing the privacy each hole needs"; "a magnificent selection of trees and shrubs definitely enhances the setting of a golf course"; and "they can provide natural safety boundaries along residential areas." Concludes that "if undertaken thoughtfully, trees and shrubs can enhance a golf course rather than hinder it. Playability should always be the priority over aesthetics." |
