Abstract/Contents:Discusses a "re-emergence of the short course. It may comprise all par 3 holes or 9 or 18 holes and may include some short par 4's or even 5's, but is intended to provide a short game challenge for the novice and proficient player alike, in an enjoyable outing of 1 to 3 hours." Lists potential advantages of a short course, stating that they are "designed to appeal to all standards by exciting the good player, but not being too difficult for the beginner." Also discusses environmental benefits, stating that "the Pitch and Putt design integrates six nutrient stripping ponds with macrophytic vegetation, above the adjoining floodway, to allow treatment of low flow water and greens sub-soil drainage."
