Abstract/Contents: | "Spring dead spot is a serious disease of Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. and hybrids, particularly 'Tifdwarf', in South Australian bowling greens. This study identified Leptosphaeria narmari Walker & Smith, as being the causal organism of spring dead spot in 'Tifdwarf' turf, in South Australia. It was the only fungus to be consistently isolated from diseased turf and was subsequently shown to be pathogenic to 'Tifdwarf' turf in a glasshouse pot experiment. It also caused spring dead spot symptoms when introduced to an established bowling green." |
