| Abstract/Contents: | "This trial was conducted at the Camelot golf course near Fond du Lac, WI on a mixed bentgrass-annual bluegrass nursery that had a history of yellow tuft infections, especially in the annual bluegrass. Season-long applications of Subdue in test areas the previous season had demonstrated excellent control, while Fore (mancozeb) improved over-all turf vigor, but increased yellow tuft incidence. The turf received approximately 1.75 lb N during the season and was maintained in a somewhat dry condition. Test chemicals were applied in 2 gal water/1000 ft sq with a CO2-powered sprayer equipped with two 8006 TeeJet nozzles to cover a 5-foot width. Plots were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications, each 5 ft x 15 ft in size. Applications were made on 21 May; 5 and 18 Jun; 2, 16, and 30 Jul; and 20 Aug except the treatment receiveing only one application, which was made on 21 May. The number of infected tufts/ft sq were calculated on two dates. On 4 Aug the multiple applications of Subdue, regardless of formulation, reduced yellow tuft incidence, but not significantly. However, Fore significantly increased disease by that date. By 25 Aug the two higher rates of Subdue provided statistically significant control." |
