| Abstract/Contents: | "Merion Kentucky bluegrass turf was established Sep 85. Plot received 2 lb N per 1000 sq ft in May in May, 1 lb N in Jul, and 1 lb N in Sep. Turf was irrigated 0.3 in of water per day 7 days a wk. Cutting ht was maintained at 2.5 in with clippings returned. Weed control (a.i./acre) was 10.5 lb DCPA applied late Apr and 2,4-D at 1 lb, MCPP at 0.5 lb, and dicamba at 0.11 lb applied early May and mid-Sep. Plots were 25 sq ft with four replicated treatments arranged in a randomized complete block design. Fungicides were applied at a rate of 5 gal solution per 1000 sq ft using a CO2 backpack sprayer at 25 psi equipped with a Tee-jet flat fan nozzle. Rainfall from may through Sep was near normal, and temperatures were above normal for May, Jun and Jul and slightly below normal for Aug and Sep. Disease development was from natural rusting with disease prevalence on the untreated check plot being moderately severe. all products evaluated significantly controlled stem rust. Plots treated with Bayleton, PP523, Banner, and Spotless were free of rust. RH-3486 at 3 oz applied three times held the rust level to a trace, whereas when applied twice at 6 oz each application rust levels were moderate. No phytotoxic injury was observed for any of the products tested." |
