Abstract/Contents:Briefly describes annual golf green renovation and management practices used at Salisbury Country Club, Richmond, Va. for maintaining a quality putting surface. Management is geared towards keeping members happy. Renovation program is: 1)aerify, 2)vertical mow the plugs, 3)use steel mats to drag in the plugs, 4)blow the debris off the greens, 5)mow, and 6)move a cup. Cultural methods described are mowing, topdressing, spiking, watering, fertilization, and pesticide program. Summarizes that regular renovation, mechanical brushing when weather permits, light but frequent topdressing, adequate but careful fertilization programs, complete pesticide programs, and good watering habits using both automatic irrigation and hand watering and good mower maintenance are essential in the maintenance of quality putting surfaces.
