Abstract/Contents:Briefly outlines many uses of polyester nonwoven geotextile engineering fabrics including application in golf courses, various athletic fields, and race tracks in addition to their typical use in highway construction, railroads, and roofing. The nature of geotextile fabrics, which is described, creates the ability to filter solid from liquids, separate two soil layers (e.g. sand and gravel), and add strength for longer life (e.g. cart paths). A booklet available on use of geotextiles in landscaping and tests run on the warning track of Candlestick Park, San Francisco, CA are described. Suggests geotextiles in golf courses can help with problems in sand traps, soil erosion along creek banks, and cart paths.
