"I am pleased to note on the October, 1931, copy of the National Greenkeeper a picture of the pitch and putt course on the WInchell Smith estate, which is lovated at Farmington, Conn., rather than at Farmington, Mass. This course was designed and built by Mr. Orrin E. Smith, the golf course architect, of 1323 Crbin Avenue, New Britain, Conn. I think your October issue is of special value in that you have given the experiences of greenkeepers throughout the United States on the various troubles which they have had this year. There is no question but that the year of 1931 has been one of the most difficult years in New England for control of turf diseases, grubs, etc. Anything which can be done to further pass on the knowledge of experience of this year certainly ought to assist our greenkeepers against further troubles of this kind. I congratulate you on going to the heart of the subject, and hope that a great deal of good will come of this effort on your part."
