| Abstract/Contents: | "The field test was conducted at the University of Nebraska John Seaton Anderson Turfgrass Research Facility, Mead, NE on turf that was established Sep 85. Plots received 4 lb total N applied at 2 lb N per 1000 sq ft in May, 1 lb in Jul, and 1 lb in Sep. Irrigation was 0.3 in per day 7 days a week. Turf was mowed twice a wk at a 2.5 in ht with clippings returned. Weed control (a.i./acre) was 10.5 lb DCPA applied late Apr and 2,4-D at 1 lb, MCPP at 0.5 lb, and dicamba at 0.11 which had been cultured on sterilized oat seed at a rate of of 9.5 lb oat inoculum per 1000 sq ft. Plots were 25 sq ft with four replicated treatments arranged in a randomized complete block design. Fungicides were applied at a rate of 5 gal solution per 1000 sq ft using a CO2 backpack sprayer at 25 psi equipped with a Tee-Jet 8003 flatfan nozzle. Rainfall from May through Sep was near normal, and temperatures were above normal for May, Jun and Jul and a slightly below normal for Aug and Sep. Rhizoctonia blight was moderate with both leaf spot and patch symptoms present. All treated plots had significantly less Rhizoctonia blight than the check plot. For Banner, Bayleton, and RH-3486 the higher application rate applied twice gave better control than the lower rate applied three times. The opposite was observed for Bravo 720 + SDS-66533 and Chipco 26019, and for Bravo 720 there was no difference between treatment rate or application number." |
