Abstract/Contents:"Sublethal rates of sulfometuron (13.4 and 26.8 gm ai/ha), glyphosate (140 and 280 gm ai/ha), sethoxydim (28, 56 and 112 gm ai/ha), and fluazifop-p (14, 28 and 56 gm ai/ha), and labeled rates of mefluidide (280 and 560 gm ai/ha), were applied to common bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) and bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum) turf. All treatments, except mefluidide, reduced the growth of both grass species for 4-6 weeks after treatment. These treatments also reduced seed head formation. The glyphosate and sulfometuron treatments caused both grasses to discolor more than any other treatment. Dry matter production generally correlated with the height of the grasses. When the grasses had recoverd from the treatments, dry matter production in the herbicide treated plots often exceeded the check plots."
