Abstract/Contents:Field studies were carried out in New Jersey on the effects of insecticide applications on nutritional relations within a typical turf ecosystem. Effects such as pest resurgence, fewer invertebrate decomposers and more herbivores were detrimental to turf. It is thought that, by continuing insecticide treatment or making applications at high rates, the problems associated with pests and the thatch region (a composite layer of plant debris, roots and stolons) may be severely aggravated.
