Abstract/Contents:Discusses an "organic approach" to lawn care, suggesting that "safe products and smart strategies can produce a pleasing stretch of lawn without harmful side effects." Provides potential organic turf maintenance methods, stating that "turf grass can be fertilized by an early-spring treatment of corn gluten meal...[and Japanese beetles] can be controlled effectively by milky spore (Bacillus popilliae), a naturally occuring bacterium." Mentions that "a recycling, or mulching, mower is preferred. It cuts grass blades several times before letting the clippings fall to the ground. These fine clippings quickly disappear into the lawn and become a constant source of much-needed nitrogen."
