| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to evaluate tall fescue "for use as a home lawn turf in southern New England." Explains that "all cultivars and plots received the same management practices throughout the study...After planting a combination starter fertilizer/siduron product was applied to reduce the risk of crabgrass competition and infestation." Reports that "some cultivars, [including] Dynasty, scored highly in the color ratings while lower in the visual rating and, conversely, some cultivars, i.e. Barvado scored highly in the visual ratings while lower in the color readings. The reason for these differences may be attributed to the fact that the Spectrum CM 1000 meter records color alone and does not take into account turfgrass density, uniformity and leaf texture while visual ratings take these characteristics and color into account." |
