| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses working with supervisors, suggesting that everyone "[needs] to have a clear understanding of each other's goals, expectations and motivations, and be open and honest in all communications." Suggests that "it's [an employee's] responsibility to keep careful documentation to provide [one's] superior with the knowledge and understanding of the work [one is] doing." Recommends that "when working with technical details, [to] develop a system to get [one's] superior's feedback on the issues involved so [one] can reach the conclusion of the project with no questions remaining and a clear record that everything has been completed according to the project parameters." Also discusses handling controversy within the workplace, stating not to "contradict [superiors] in public. When an issue arises, arrange a one-on-one review session." Mentions that "often, emotional issues develop from misunderstandings that have not been addressed when they first occurred." Concludes that "supportive bosses will encourage [one] to step up to additional challenges so that [one continues] improving professionally...By working effectively with [one's] supervisor...both [will] achieve success." |
