Abstract/Contents:Presents a study conducted "to test a series of products against natural spring populations of EC [European crane fly] larvae." Lists treatments evaluated in the study, including Talstar PL 0.2G, Provaunt 14.5SC, Allectus 9SC, Sevin 43SL, Dursban 23.5EC, Merit 0.5G, Dylox 80WP, Arena 50WDG, and Safari 20SG. Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "the trials were conducted on golf course roughs...curative applications were made on 30 May, coinciding with the period of most intense damage potential before larvae move to aestivation sites in the soil where they remain in a non-active and non-feeding state until pupation in early fall...Field sites consisted primarily of perennial ryegrass and Kentucky bluegrass managed as a golf course rough bordering fairways." Reports that "both rates of Arena 50WDG had equivalent high levels of control...Five other treatments had >60% control: Dursban 23.5C, Merit 0.5G, Dylox 80WP and Safari 20SG. No phytotoxicity was observed."
