| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to evaluate "commericial formulations of three metaldehyde and one iron phosphate bait...for control of GGS (gray garden slug) in a multi-year field of tall fescue grown for seed." Lists treatments evaluated in the study, including Deadline MP, Sluggo, Wilco Blue, and Metarex. Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "this field had heavy post-harvest residues of straw and chaff on the soil surface...Six different treatments were applied on 2 [March] using a rotary, hand held bait spreader." Reports that "pre-treatment counts revealed a large and fairly uniform population of GGS with no statistically significant differences in numbers among plots. Slug numbers dropped significantly at 7 DAT [days after treatment] in all treated plots compared to the untreated plots...Low rates of Metarex pellets provided control comparable to or greater than higher rates of other baits." |
