| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to "evaluate selected insecticides for the control of RIFA [red imported fire ant] in turf." Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "the turf consisted of a mixed stand of tall fescue, Festuca arundinacea Schreb. and bahiagrass, Paspalum notatum Flu^D"gge^D'...Soil at the site was classed as mineral with 0.92% humic matter, a CEC [cation exchange capacity] of 3.5 and pH of 4.8. Grass at the site was mowed approximately every two wk [weeks] for the duration of the test." Lists treatments evaluated in the study, including Arena 0.5G, TM-44401 50WDG, and TopChoice 0.0143G. Reports that "all treatments except the 40 lb [pound] product/acre treatment of Arena and the TopChoice treatment had significantly fewer mounds than the untreated check...No phytotoxicity was observed." |
