| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted "to determine product effectiveness as well as application timing to control a predominat Northern masked chafer [NMC] white grub population on a turfgrass area...The turfgrass area consisted of perennial ryegrass (100%)...The area selected for the experiment had been infested with a natural population of NMC during the fall of 2003. NMC was the predominant white grub species present throughout the research area." Lists treatments evaluted on April 19, May 11, and June 10, including Mach 2 1GR Coat Fer and Mach 2 1GR Non-Coat Fer. States that "it is imperative to recognize that the majority of JB grubs [that] recovered from the untreated check plots were second instar larvae based on head capsule measurements taken in the field. The range of second instar JB grubs recovered from the untreated check replicates was 55.6% - 100% with an [average] recovery of 74.1%. In some cases the grubs may not have had sufficient time for the active ingredient to suppress their feeding activity, and/or residual activity may have been reduced as a result of early applications and the impact of excessive rainfall...No phytotoxicity was recorded." |
