Abstract/Contents:Discusses setting golf course mowing lines and patterns in the spring. States that "one of the most important tasks to underake in spring is to set mowing lines and patterns. This is where the 'art of greenkeeping' comes into its own." Suggests questions to address when setting mowing patterns, including "did the mowing pattern complement the architecture?"; "was the mowing pattern leading to any damage or problems?"; "do [crew members] need to change the type of mower, mowing height or mowing frequency?"; "can [the club] afford to mow all of these rough areas?"; and "to stripe, or not to stripe?"
