Abstract/Contents:Presents a study conducted to determine the potential effect of biostimulants on a golf green in the grow-in year. Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "two biostimulant products, Plant Health Care (PHC) 6:5:6 (N [nitrogen]:P2O5 [phosphorus pentoxide]:K2O [potassium oxide]) and Colour Performance Roots (CPR) 4:0:1 (N, P2O5, K2O) were applied bi-weekly onto a newly sown turf treatment plots on USGA [United States Golf Association] specification golf green at their recommended rates of 2.5 ml [milliliters] m-2 [per meter] respectively. Biostimulants were applied in combination with both a two thirds and a recommended fertilizer application rate applying (240:37:312) and (361:55:468) kg ha-1 [per hectare] yr-1 [per year] N:P2O5:K2O respectively." Reports that significant interactions between nutrient rate and time were found...Grass tissue N content was within the recommended levels on all measurement dates regardless of nutrient rate, suggesting that the amount of N applied was excessive...CPR significantly increased leaf tissue phosphorus concentration at the two-thirds nutrient rate compared to the control during the first three quartiles." Concludes that "biostimulant application enhanced tissue phosphorus and potassium concentrations, particularly during winter and spring months."
