| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to evaluate "the adaptability of hybrid bermudagrass 'Tifdwarf' overseeded with various cool-season turfgrasses, in a putting green in costal Tuscany [Italy]." Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "overseeding was carried out manually with the following species and cultivars: Lolium perenne cv 'Fairway' (Lp1); Lolium perennne cv 'Vantage' (Lp2); Lolium multiflorum cv 'Pollanum' (Lm); Poa trivialis cv 'Winterplay'(Pt); Festuca rubra commutata cv 'Ombretta' (Frc); Festuca rubra tricophylla cv 'Seabreeze' (Frt); [and] Agrostis stolonifera cv 'Penncross' (As)." Concludes that "trial results showed the possibility of using 'Tifdwarf' hybrid bermudagrass overseeded with cool-season species for the establishment of putting greens in Central Italy. Resulting greens generally show good quality, colour [color] and density, even if performing as 'slow' according to USGA [United States Golf Association] green speed rating." |
