Abstract/Contents: | Field-plot tests were carried out in Florida in 1967 to determine the residues on ryegrass (Lolium) from baits or granules of chlordane, diazinon, Dyfonate or trichlorphon either applied once to the leaves seven weeks after sowing or disked into the soil one day before sowing to control mole crickets (mainly Scapteriscus vicinus Scud. and S. acletus Rehn & Hebard). Chlordane residues from foliar applications at 0:5 and 3 lb toxicant/acre were 2:1 and 3:2 p.p.m., respectively, at the end of the sampling period (days 0-21) and from a soil application at 3 lb were less than 0:3 p.p.m. throughout the sampling period (days 50-71). Diazinon residues from a foliar application at 2 lb decreased from 15:3 to 0:3 p.p.m. during 21 days and from a soil application at 2 lb were less than 0:1 p.p.m. after 50 days. Residues of Dyfonate and its oxygen analogue [O-ethyl S-phenyl ethylphosphonothioate] from a foliar application at 2 lb decreased from 16:8 to 0:5 p.p.m. and were less than 0:2 p.p.m., respectively, during 21 days, and from a soil application at 2 lb were insignificant. Trichlorphon residues from a foliar application at 1 lb decreased from 37:5 to 0:1 p.p.m. during 21 days. |
