| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to "i) evaluate the influence of mowing frequency and plant growth regulators on dollar spot incidence and severity, and ii) elucidate the interactions among mowing frequency, plant growth regulators, and fungicides on seasonal management of dollar spot." Details methods and materials used in the study. Reports that "dollar spot presure...was moderate to severe in 2007 and fungicide treatments were applied from 1 June to 28 September. Plots treated with paclobutrazol (PB) significantly reduced the number of seasonal fungicide applications needed to maintain acceptable levels of dollar spot." Concludes that "this study suggests that PGR [plant growth regulator] use and mowing frequency may influence the residual efficacy of contact fungicides for dollar spot management and allow for reductions in the overall use of these products. While the benefits of paclobutrazol are likely due to its fungistatic properties, the influence of PGRs and mowing frequency solely on the residual of the pentrant fungicides appears to be minimal." |
