| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to evaluate "different clipping practices on colour [color] intensity, turf quality and stand cover of tall fescue under low maintenance." Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "three turf varieties ('Barfelix', 'Denise', 'Tar Heel') were compared under the following clipping practices: using a rotary mower a complete clipping removal (REM) or clipping returned (RET); using a mulching mower a clipping returned (MUL)." Reports that "turf quality was significantly affected by the interaction Year x Clipping practice...That was caused by the progressive improvement of the quality for the treatments MUL and RET while REM was significantly lower in the 3rd year...The colour [color] intensity was also significantly influenced by clipping practices." Concludes that "results stressed that differences among seasons were more evident than differences between clipping practices. Nevertheless, the three clipping practices clearly influenced turf quality and colour [color] after three years mulching and clipping returned treatments showed higher quality." |
