Abstract/Contents: | Describes the two species of chinch bugs which are turf pests: the hairy chinch bug is a pest of northern turfgrasses such as bluegrasses, fine fescues and bentgrass; the Southern chinch bug feeds on St. Augustinegrass, bermudagrass and zoysiagrass. Describes the life cycle and common characteristics. Insecticides labeled for controlling chinch bugs are Baygon, Diazinon, Dursban, Dursban Plus, Dymet, Ethion, Mavrik Aquaflow, Mocap, Oftanol, Primicid, Sevin, Tempo 2, Triumph and Turcam. Provides tips on the best approach to prevent chinch bug populations from encroaching on your lawn. |
