| Abstract/Contents: | In further tests in Georgia of the persistence of residues of Velsicol VCS-506 (O-methyl O-4-bromo-2,5-dichlorophenyl phenylphosphonothioate), its oxygen analogue [the corresponding phenylphosphonate] and its phenol derivative [4-bromo-2,5-dichlorophenol] from sprays of the parent insecticide applied at 0.5, 1 and 2 lb per acre, the sprays were applied to coastal Bermudagrass [a cultivar of Cynodon dactylon], and samples were analysed 0-42 days after treatment. Residues of the parent compound were reduced by weathering from 22.6, 46.8 and 132 parts per million immediately after application at the three rates, respectively, to 0.84, 1.73 and 5.28 p.p.m. 42 days later. The corresponding residues of the oxygen analogue were 0.06, 0.14 and 0.42 p.p.m., reduced to less than 0.01 p.p.m. after 42 days, and those of the phenol derivative were 0.41, 0.8 and 1.43 p.p.m. reduced to 0.35, 0.66 and 1.3 p.p.m. |
