Abstract/Contents: | Presents a potentially humorous discussion of golf course rough maintenance and its potential effect on the pace of play of a game of golf. Suggests that "for an industry supposedly concerned with slow play, the presence of deep rough in what should be fairway is so counter-productive that only an extra-terrestrial conspiracy can explain the situation...To make matters worse, the roughs in these parts nearly always cover slopes and bunker approaches; this completely negates the movement of the ball across the contour of the ground." Also discusses alternative golf spikes, stating that "it seems as if every incarnation of non-metal golf spikes has evloved into something that is more aggressive than the orignial 8mm [millimeter] stud.
