Abstract/Contents:Presents an experiment conducted at the Panhandle Research and Extension Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, "to determine proper dates of planting for three species of turfgrass for seed production that seed companies are interested in growing" including Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis), tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) and perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.). Details the methods and materials used in the study, stating that "the seeding rates were 4 lb [pounds]/A [acre] for Kentucky bluegrass and 6 lb/A for tall fescue and perennial ryegrass." Reports that "preliminary studies suggest that highest yields of Kentucky bluegrass (510 kg [kilograms]/ha [hectare]) occur when planted from mid-May to late June, tall fescue (1490 kg/ha) from July to [August] 15, and perennial ryegrass (1480 kg/ha) from late July through August."
