Abstract/Contents:Discusses the creation of a water feature at The Club at Carlton Woods, which opened in 2001. States that "membership had barely topped 100 when two factors converged to draw attention to the par-3 No.17 - or, more specifically, to a five-acre waste bunker stretching along the left side of the hole." Explains that "almost from the outset, the bunker was subject to washouts that required repairs and sand restoration...Then some one suggested turning the waste bunker into a wetland." Describes the renovation process, stating that "after consultation with the Nicklaus Design team, the five-acre waste bunker was excavated and transformed into a pond that lent aesthetic appeal witout compromising the design intent." States that after the renovation "No. 17 is...one of the most photographed holes on the golf course and attracts an array of birds and wildlife. The hole figured prominently in the course securing Audubon International certification."
