Abstract/Contents: | Discusses how "Golf Environment Europe takes two sides when it comes to a golf course benefiting the environment." Suggests that "there are many situations where well-designed, constructed and managed golf courses can enhance the local environment," including "bringing habitats under long-term, consistend conservation management"; "enhancing landscape character and visual quality"; and "acting as 'green lungs' in towns and cities by mitigating air pollution and carbon release." Also suggests that "golf courses sited in inappropriate locations and those designed and built without due regard for environmental factors can have significant negative environmental impacts," including "loss of species and habitats"; "pressure on water resources"; and "fragmentation of habitats." |
