Abstract/Contents:Discusses turfgrass management relative to climatic conditions. States that "advances in atmospheric research have made it possible to predict climate, with a relatively high level of certainty. Knowledge of climatic conditions allows [turfgrass professionals] a seasonal management strategy for the lawn and other landscape features." Also discusses the potential effects of El Niño and La Niña on climatic conditions, stating that El Niño typically brings 30-40 percent more rainfall and cooler temperatures to Florida in the winter and early spring, while La Niña brings warmer and much drier than normal fall, winter and spring seasons." Offers suggestions for mowing; irrigation; fertilization; insect, disease, and weed control; and aerification in drier climates.
