| Abstract/Contents: | Offers suggestions for dealing with water restrictions in Florida in 2008, stating that residential customers can water landscapes only one day per week, in an effort to conserve water in Collier and Lee counties. Suggests that turfgrass managers "can use this difficult time to become better educators and communicators. [They] must use this challenge as an opportunity to learn how to improve educating [their] staffs, teaching the skills [they] have not used for many years - managing [the] turfgrass with less water than normal and properly using wetting agents designed to hold more water." Discusse long-term conservation, stating that "reducing the quantity of irrigated acres..can be done in many ways, but the simplest might be spraying out the turfgrass, removing the irrigation and installing native plant material in out of play areas or other ground covers that do not require irrigation." |
