| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to "develop a system that could be used to relate pitch management costs to playing surface quality after wear, and thereafter to determine priorities for three of the main management inputs of fertiliser [fertilizer] application, sand dressing and aeration." Focuses on "the effects of sand dressing, fertiliser [fertilizer] and aeration"; "costs of maintenance operations"; and "surface performance." Concludes that "compaction relief and the formation of channels to aid water penetration and air exchange are intuitively important forms of playing surface management but, in light of the results from this study, more detailed work is needed to examine a much wider range of aeration techniques and the timing of operations." |
