Abstract/Contents:"Field experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of tank mixing preemergent crabgrass materials with fenoxaprop to enhance control of crabgrass (Digitaria spp.) in turf at two locations. Results indicate performance of fenoxaprop alone is variable depending on severity of drought stress at time of application. On Long Island, excellent control was achieved with rates of 0.08 and 0.12 lb ai/A, therefore no enhancement was evident from tank mixing. In White Plains, poor control was attained with 0.08 and 0.12 lb ai/A fenoxaprop. Tank mixing with prodiamine (0.75 lb ai/A) and DCPA(10.5 lb ai/A) did enhance control, while mixing with bensulide(7.5 lb ai/A) was not effective and pendimethalin (1.5 lb ai/A) results were variable. A seperate study was conducted to compare fenoxaprop and pendimethalin alone and in factorial combinations. Results indicate synergistic interactions when fenoxaprop rates were 0.06 or 0.12 lb ai/A at all rates of pendimethalin. Excellent season-long control was afforded at the high rates of both materials in combination (0.24 and 1.5 lb ai/A). However, fenoxaprop at 0.12 lb ai/A combined with 1.5 lb ai/A pendimethalin was not significantly different from the high rate combination which suggests a lower use rate of Fenoxaprop may be employed by adding pendimethalin."
