Abstract/Contents:Discusses golf course maintenance equipment management. Suggests that "golf courses across the United States are facing...challenges in how they manage their golf course equipment fleets," including "the expectation level of players on golf courses at every level"; "ever-increasing costs to achieve these expectation levels (budget)"; "training and keeping quality labor (mechanics and operators)"; and "competition for players with other golf courses that were built during the boom times of the 1990s." Explains that "the equipment fleets on golf courses of every type have not been replaced on a regular schedule based on hours of use. The result is spiraling higher costs for maintenance and repairs, while equipment costs for new units are certainly not going down." Cites potential reasons for decreased golf equipment fleet management, including economic challenges and competition for golfers. Offers potential solutions to this issue, including developing a plan for fleet maintenance.
