Abstract/Contents:Presents a compaction study "undertaken as a result of observations indicating that the stripes followed a well-established mowing pattern." States that "due to the fact that mowing always began next to a paved sidewalk, a repetitive traffic pattern was established parallel to the sidwalk. The green stripes were noted to involve the areas repeatedly driven over by the wheels of the lawn-mowing equipment. The brown stripes were found to occupy the area between wheel tracks."
