| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of several herbicides in controlling crabgrass. Lists treatments evaluated in the study, including PMA (10%), potassium cyanate, and sodium arsenite. Reports that "when each material was used at its most effective ratio, number of applications, and period between treatments there was no significant difference between the results obtained." Cautions that "sufficient water must be used to insure [ensure] uniform coverage"; "treatments should not be made when soil moisture is low and temperatures are high (above 80-85°F [Fahrenheit]"; and "treatments should be started as soon as crabgrass emerges." States that "there was no evidence of injury or discoloration of the permanent grasses, except that in a few areas the bentgrass appeared to be checked to some extent by the 2,4-D treatment." |
