| Abstract/Contents: | "Four members of the industry present their thoughts on the current level of skills and expertise evident in new professionals to our industry and indicate what specific areas of training and the skill sets they would like to see in future staff. Digby Whyte, discusses a local authority parks employer perspective and outlines professional certification; Bruce Andrell, places emphasis on a regional council for new park rangers; Richard Hollier, discusses the topic from a Consultant perspective; and Paul Coles, addresses the issue from the perspective of a contractor organisation trying to source experienced staff. Representatives from the relevant ITOs, tertiary institutes and other training organisations will be in the audience to add their comments to the topic. After the panel have presented, session chair, Gareth Moore-Jones will open the session to the floor and the outcomes of the session will be given to NZRA to follow up as appropriate with the relevant qualification and training providers." |
