| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicide treatments were evaluated for dollar spot and brown patch prevention on a creeping bentgrass green located at the University of Kentucky Spindletop Research Farm near Lexington. The turf was maintained at a 0.25 in mowing height, received minimum nitrogen fertilization, and otherwise received conventional maintenance. Each treatment was replicated four times in a randomzied complete block design with 5 ft x 6 ft plots. Tretments were applied using a hand pumped Solo backpack sprayer with a 6 ft, four nozzle boom delivering 2 gal/1000 sq ft and operating at 25 psi. Application dates for biweekly treatments were 29 May, 12 Jun, 26 Jun, and 10 Jul. Triweekly treatments were made 29 May, 19 Jun, and 10 Jul. Plots were evaluated 17 Jul by counting the number of dollar sot infection centers/plot, and by estimating the percent area of each plot infected with brown patch. A few dollar spot infection were present at the start of the test, and although disease pressure was heaviest in late Jun, disease ratings made then gave the same results as 17 Jul ratings. Brown patch became evident about 10 Jul and symptoms declined soon after 17 Jul. All treatments had significantly less dollar spot infections than the untreated plots. Four treatments, Banner 1.1E, Chipco 26019, Daconil 2787, and SN 596 were more effective in controlling brown patch than were the other chemicals tested." |
