| Abstract/Contents: | "This trial was conducted at the Camelot golf course near Fond du Lac, WI on a mixed bentgrass-Poa research green which had shown considerable infection in 1985. The turf was thatchy, so it was aerified and top-dressed several times throughout the season, and received 1.75 lb N/1000 sq ft distributed over 3 applications. Daconil 2787 F was applied bi-weekly on 1/2 of the green to control other diseases, although none occurred on the entire green. Test chemicals were applied in 2 gal water/10000 sq ft with a CO2 driven applicator equipped with a 5 ft boom. Plots were arranged in a randomized complete block design, 4 replications, each 5 ft x 30 ft in size. Treatments were made biweekly from 16 May through 6 Sep. A visual rating system estimating disease prevalence was used for the first evaluation. For the second, the number of tufted plants within a square foot of the most heavily infected area in each plot was counted and recorded. Poa was especially susceptible to yellow tuft, though some bentgrass plants were also infected. Symptoms were present throughout the season but became especially evident after mid August. Subdue, either alone or in combination with Aliette, was the only treatment that provided control. Results were excellent. No phytotoxicity was observed." |
