| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were evaluated at the Oklahoma Turfgrass Research center, Stillwater, OK. The area was exposed to full sun and maintained under golf-green conditions at a cutting height of 0.16 inches. The treated plots were 2 ft x 5 ft with 1 ft x 5 ft paired (untreated) check. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 replicates. Thirty-five preventive and 10 curative treatments were made on 3 and 9 Jun. Treatments were applied with a CO2 powered, boom sprayer operating at 30 psi and a 3 gal/1000 sq ft carrier rate. Granular products were applied with a shaker jar on moist grass and were not irrigated until the following day. Due to optimal weather, natural infection of S. homoeocarpa occurred; inoculation of the experimental area was not needed. Twenty-seven of the 35 preventive treatments had 90% or better control at 4 days after treatment (DAT). At 11 DAT, the number of fungicides that had 90% or better control was reduced to 18. Only three treatments had 90% or better control at the 14 DAT rating. Twelve treatments were significantly better than the check at 60 DAT. The negative percentiles were fungicides that predisposed the bentgrass to S. homoeocarpa relative to the (untreated) check. In the curative trial, 4 treatments showed adequate control at 10 DAT. At 12 DAT, all treatments showed statistically equal control; however, the three best treatments produced 90% or better dollar spot control." |
