| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were evaluated at the Valentine Turfgrass Research Center on creeping bentgrass maintained under golf course green conditions at 0.25 inch cutting height. Fertilizer (NH4SO4) was applied on 4 Jun at the rate of 2.7 lb/1000 sq ft. Individual plots, 25 ft x 3 ft, were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications. The experimental area was inoculated on 12 June by hand-scattering S. homoeocrapa-infected rye grain over the entire test area. Fungicides were applied with a CO2 powered boom sprayer, using Tee Jet 8004 nozzles, at 30 psi, in water equivalent to 1.75 gal/1000 sq ft. Fungicide applications were initiated on 18 Jun, and retreatments were made on 3, 16, and 30 Jul, except as noted in the table. In addition, the Dyrene and Daconil treatments received another spray on 23 Jul. Dollar spot was visually evaluated on 15 and 29 Jul, and 18 Aug. Algal intensity was evaluated on 18 Aug. Data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance and Waller-Duncan K-ratio t test. Data from 18 Aug are presented. Through 18 Aug, the majority of the chemicals and combinations provided essentially complete suppression of dollar spot. No algal proliferation was noted in plots treated with Dyrene, Daconil, L9524, RH-3486, or the low rate of Hwg 1608, while greatest algal intensity was associated with high rates of SAN 619F, PP 523, and Spotless." |
