| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were evaluated at the Oklahoma Turfgrass Research Center, Stillwater, Oklahoma. The area was maintained under golf-green conditions at a cutting height of 0.16 inches, and the area was partially shaded. The treated plots were 1.5 ft x 12 ft with a 0.5 ft x 12 ft paired (untreated) check. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 replicates. Fungicide treatments were applied on 24 Jun with a CO2 powered, boom sprayer operating at 30 psi and 3 gal/1000 sq ft carrier rate. On 1 Jul, a 4 ft-wide strip perpendicualr across all treatments was inocualted using P. aphanidermatum infected rye grains. A Trevira blanket was placed over the inoculum for 4 days to maintain a suitable microclimate. The blanket was kept moist with irrigation. On 7 Jul, a second 4 ft strip was inoculated and covered with the Trevira blanket for 4 days. Disease development occurred in the respective strips at 11 and 17 days after treatment (DAT). Half of the fungicides tested showed adequate control of pythium blight at 11 DAT. Only 2 treatments showed significant control at 17 DAT. Rubigan, PP-523, and SAN-619 were significantly phytotoxic to the bentgrass at 17 DAT." |
