| Abstract/Contents: | "Poa pratensis cultivar Merion plants when grown under sprinkler irrigation were found to have a significantly higher population of Drechslera poae as a leaf or seedborne pathogen. Postharvest burning was found to be the most effective practice for the control of this organism. The date of burning had little or no effect on either the seedborne level of D. poae or on the occurrence of leaf lesion development. Postharvest residue practices had no effect on seedborne or foliar-pathogen populations on non-irrigated plantings of Merion bluegrass. The D. poae-resistant cultivar Merion when irrigated produced seeds that were normal in appearance but had a significantly higher level of seedborne D. poae which correlated will with the foliar disease index." |
